Our Creative Learning programme sits
at the heart of our theatre; realising opportunities for work with
schools, colleges, community groups, individuals and specialist
services.
During our Opening Season our projects have
included a new outreach programme for local primary schools, giving
teachers the chance to direct a play with a local contemporary
playwright; the production of our very own mini ‘theatre in a box’
for young families to perform and enjoy stories together; and a
range of New Writing opportunities including the chance for 15
young aspiring writers to win a place on our Writers Squad
programme in conjunction with New Writing South. The lucky 15 will
go onto gain professional mentorship across an 11 month period.
As we move into our next season we will
continue to run a range of exciting community led projects,
including our Strawberry & Steam production with supporting
workshops and resources for local schools.
Our busy Youth Theatre
Group continues to grow and we will also offer a range of
one-off workshops, theatre tours and a range of outreach projects
for young people.
Our work inspires creativity, improves
physical and mental well-being, builds confidence and enhances self
esteem, but most importantly – it’s a lot of fun.
