Free festival summer fun in store as Unwrapped returns

Unwrap the gift of shared live experience in Eastleigh and Hedge End next month.

The free arts festival Unwrapped will spill out of The Point Eastleigh and The Berry Theatre for a weekend of wonder. Join in with the jollities on Saturday 11 June in Eastleigh town centre and Sunday 12 June in Hedge End, as the venues present high-quality, hand-picked live performances and an abundance of colourful festival fun.

There will be plenty of food and drink from the Summer Social kiosk and a wide variety of outlets, plus have-a-go creative activities, an arts and craft market and a chillout zone.

Watch and wonder at inspiring performances from some of the most exciting artists in the UK and beyond – the festival timetable is the same across both days.

LASTheatre with The Rascally Diner (11am and 2pm)

Production inspired by the award-winning children’s book The Rascally Cake which creatively and playfully explores the joy of food and where it comes from – messy, silly and lots of fun!

Levantes Dance Theatre: High Tea, with a twist (walkabout at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3pm)

The Canapé Art twins perform dance and acrobatics above a tastefully laid tea table and mingle with the crowd for selfies and a cuppa. Expect glittery cakes, outrageous costumes and theatrical high jinks.

Calf2Cow - The Wave (12pm and 3pm)

A trio of musical sailors need your help on a journey of incredible highs and sudden lows as they battle against the stormy seas. A bonkers, riotous, clowning show.

Cat & Mouse Theatre: Blockbuster Factory (12.30pm and 2pm)

Movie director Martin Beilsperg and legendary playwright Charles Bexley Heath try to recruit stars and crew for their latest blockbuster with help from Phil the boom guy - who has forgotten all the props, but did manage to bring a box of bananas…

Farm Yard Circus (1pm and 4pm)

Warm and cheery family-friendly farm-inspired circus spectacle, with group acrobatics, juggling, theatre, and live music. Expect a bewildering display involving hay bales, wheelbarrows, a tractor tyre, and even an old scarecrow!

Unwrapped is supported by Arts Council England and Eastleigh Borough Council. The Point Eastleigh is owned and operated by Eastleigh Borough Council.

Charlotte Hall, Creative Director at The Point Eastleigh, said: “Unwrapped Festival is the jewel in the crown of our Anywhere programme that takes creative wonders to all kinds of spaces and places across our Borough.

“This year’s Unwrapped is going to be a huge creative celebration with a host of acts and activities for young and old to enjoy. We can’t wait to welcome you in both Eastleigh and Hedge End, to share what we’ve got in store and to see smiles on everyone’s faces."
