Funding award to support our reopening

We are delighted to have received a welcome cash boost as we once again prepare to reopen to audiences. Our two theatres, The Point in Eastleigh and The Berry Theatre in Hedge End, owned and operated by Eastleigh Borough Council, have been awarded £1,395 from Theatres Trust’s Protection and Theatre Reopening Fund.

This award will help support the purchasing of equipment needed by our technical team due to COVID-19 constraints and will include materials that will allow us to better meet the needs of our community hirers.

Many of the new approaches devised during the COVD-19 situation have required our theatres' capabilities to be altered and improved to accommodate relocation, social distancing and our work with the local community.

Eastleigh Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Social Policy, Councillor Tina Campbell, said: “Our brilliant theatres play an important role in the community and support wellbeing and education, as well as offering excellent entertainment. This grant will help bring the theatres back into residents’ lives and the team will put it to good use in making the theatres safe for visitors. We look forward to welcoming people back.”

Business Manager, Louisa Milburn said: “We are extremely pleased to receive this support from The Theatre’s Trust in helping us not only to get back on our feet, and create as safe a space as possible for all our staff, participants and audiences, but it also recognises the different theatrical equipment we need to offer touring companies and community hirers in minimising contact and making our working environment flexible and efficient. It all helps to create a positive new normal!”
