Funding boost for The Point and The Berry theatres

The Point, Eastleigh and its sister venue The Berry Theatre in Hedge End, which are owned and operated by Eastleigh Borough Council, have received a grant of £96,500 from the Culture Recovery Fund.

The funding will assist with; staffing, overheads and operational costs, Covid-19 safety measures including screens, support for community hirers, programming and audience development. It will also support freelance contracts for community work through the venues’ creative learning programme.

Nickola Moore, Head of Arts and Culture at Eastleigh Borough Council, said: “This continued support from the Government’s Cultural Recovery Fund will allow us to keep our two theatres safe for audiences, artists, staff and our community as we move into the next stages of reopening.

“Funding will also support audience development activity and underpin our professional and community hire programme. Alongside this, we will be able to confidently continue our programme of community classes and youth companies alongside a bold and inclusive programme of outdoor work that invites our audiences back in a safe and social way this summer.”
