With storms to battle, nets to untangle, and fish to catch, for a group of fishermen living in Port Isaac, national stardom is the very last thing they’re thinking about. Life in their small, northern Cornish town consists of early mornings, long days on the water, and a few pints in the pub before turning around and doing it all over again. When the mood strikes, they have a tendency to burst into song, harmonising over the very tunes that their grandfathers used to sing, committed to preserving the heritage they know and love.
What they don’t know is that someone who can change their lives is listening – and he likes what he hears.
When a big shot record executive stumbles into Port Isaac and discovers the musical magic that the locals are capable of, he immediately sees the potential for record sales, touring dates, and, most importantly, a tidy profit.
But these hardened sailors aren’t quite as starry-eyed as he anticipated, and it’s going to take a lot more than smooth talking to convince them to share their gift with the world.
The more time he spends in the funny little town, the clearer it becomes – he might be the one promising fame and fortune, but it’s the fishermen who have something far more valuable to offer him.
